About Kingman, Arizona

Sometime in October of 1857, Lt. Edward Fitzgerald Beale and his trial Camel Corps marched athwart the present site of Kingman, Arizona investigating a wagon road all along the 35th parallel. Subsequent to the primary explorers, they bumped into hostile Indians in the region. This was when Fort Mojave was recognized along the Colorado River. Off-duty soldiers inspected the hills and found gold and silver.

Mining camps pounced up later in. By the early 1870's, livestock were taken in to take benefit of the verdant grasses. In 1880, Lewis Kingman reviewed beside the Atlantic and Pacific right of way amid Needles and Albuquerque. By early 1883, the track ended.

Kingman Attractions

Locomotive Park – This Park is home to well-known steam engine #3759. Constructed in 1928 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Eddystone, PA, Engine No. 3759, a “Northern-type” is a coal burning steam locomotive that ran travellers between Los Angeles and Kansas City for more than 20 years. Before it was withdrawn by the Santa Fe Railroad, it had run a sum of 2,585,600 miles. In 1941, Engine No. 3759 was reconstructed and rehabilitated to run on oil fuel.

White Cliff Wagon Trail - Discover a piece of the past along the wagon road that was once used in carrying ore from the Stockton Hill Mines to the railroad. You can see a fraction of an old ore wagon direction which was used in the late 1800's, bringing ore from the Stockton Hill Mines to Kingman.
